Symptoms of Fibroids

Uterine fibroids are non-cancerous tumours which occur in up to 50% of women.  Although they only cause symptoms in around a quarter of cases they remain the most common cause of hysterectomy before the men Symptoms of Fibroidsopause.

Although fibroids are one of the most common conditions affecting women today surprisingly little is known about them and their natural history.  Consultant gynaecologist Adrian Lower has written a new article about fibroids which sets out the facts and dispels some of the myths about fibroids.  In this article he describes some of  the consequences of having fibroids and discusses the techniques doctors use to diagnose them.
